probably me for the most part and the fact that Kid Sister is playing and she's touring with him and his DJ so that kind of makes him available.

Reasons why he'd headline

1. He has headlined Lolla
2. Had the biggest album/song of the year (if you aren't counting In Rainbows)
3. He has yet to tour the US except like 3 or 4 shows scattered here and there.
4. Just got done with a huge tour in the UK and played the O2 arena and has a new stage set up and pretty awesome light show.
5. Just played a near sold out show at the Pearl with tickets ranging from 150-350 bucks. That's a venue that headliners play. (Tool, Bjork etc)

i really doubt kanye will be at Coachella this year, but GV has tried hard to get him before and after a near-universally acclaimed and multi-million selling album, lack of U.S. tour dates, and new stage show would warrant the demand and track record for a headlining spot.

kanye wouldn't headline. just because he has a big album in the us doesn't mean that he'll be headlining. can you see a lot of mainstream hip-hop/rap/pop acts headlining. they would be an interesting mix but not the general vibe or crowd that coachella brings. even madonna who is a pop culture icon didn't "headline". she was in the dance tent early in the evening. her name was at the top of the poster because of who she was. c'mon, tool headlined that year and i, personally, think there are MANY acts that are better.

whatever GV comes up with will be good.

So Tool and Rage Against the Machine are general vibes of the Coachella crowd? WTF? I love how everyone seems to have their own idea of what type of music Coachella is about. It's why I made a thread about it.

Madonna was in the "Dance tent" because that's where SHE wanted to because of her album confessions on the DANCE floor and it was a dance album. Duh.

Coachella is simply a festival that celebrates the diversity in popular music today from Indie to Mainstream, from pop and rap to reggae and dance.

Yes, I can see mainstream pop acts headlining. They have twice now. They are called the Red Hot Chili Peppers. How about Coldplay? The Cure? The Beastie Boys?

Yep, they all fall into your category of stars who you don't think can headline a Coachella.
