well, they don't need a polo field in ny to hold a festival... let alone Coachella... It certainly isn't an impossible idea.. Regardless of the source they could give the Virgin Festival a run for their money.. Which had a shit line up last year..

look whether or not it's coachella or another festival, there really isn't a festival in the ny area that happens every year. They certainly could use it in some form or another. I am not saying this source is legit but it is certainly doable.

Exactly my thoughts. I'm not pinning my hopes up on a Perez Hilton rumor, but couldn't it be conceivable that Goldenvoice could set up a legitimate festival (ie. one with a few top notch headliners) in NY or the surrounding area? It might even be in their best interests to do something like that, given the amount of people all over the US and Canada that travel for Coachella.

I hope this isn't true. It probably isn't since Perez is saying it. But if that were to happen, it would mean that Coachella's awesome factor will be cut in half. How can GV get The Smiths, Talking Heads or Pink Floyd to Coachella while trying to balance another Coachella?

my sentiments exactly. There is no reason why they couldn't do this.. Especially in that part of the US. Not only would it draw from the mid west to the east coast but could bring a significant amount of people from across the pond who can't get enough of their fav band and or festivals over in europe.

how would it do that? When the festivals are at different times of the year.. Hence, April and dates in August for this possible festival. It's not gonna cut the awesome factor in half.. The draw for both could be quite significant IMO.

Let's give GV the benefit of the doubt and give Perez Hilton the benefit of being a total dildo. I'd surely like to think East Coastchella would not be called "Coachella" and that maybe Goldenvoice just wants to do a festival for the people who might not be able to make it to Coachella as easily as the West Coast folks. Also keep in mind that as I will be attending Dave Wang's wedding during West Coastchella, I am super pumped to hear about the prospect of East Coastchella. Wang in '08.

that would be stupid if they have it in the east coast. The East Coast has Lollapalooza (Chicago), Bonnaroo (Tennesee) or that one in Florida that is suppose to be happening in Feb. I think the Beastie Boys are headlining it.

even if they are planning it... it will never happen.......Field Day Fest didn't happen the way it was supposed to and now even Vineland is doubtful.....the town is protesting it the same way the folks out on Long Island protested Field DAy fest....so they can get all the permits, announce a lineup and even sell tickets...in the end, it just won't happen.....
