Just figured a lot of you have been to Vegas before. I've been twice, but finally have a little bit of money to gamble this trip. I've heard that there are Casinos that pay better odds than others.
Anyone have good pointers on which casino is best for blackjack, hold 'em, or roulette? Thanks guys. |

blackjack is the only game that you play against the house that you actually stand a fighting chance. everything else is for suckers.

first things first ALL GAMES HAVE A HOUSE ADVANTAGE ... ok, now ... craps has decent odds for the payer as well ... just avoid playing anything in the middle of the table (the easy bets) ... stay on the pass and come lines, and bet behind the lines ... you can get near even doing that. People are usually intimidated by craps, but there are free online sites you can practice on to understand it better. It's actually easy. black jack does have the best odds for the player if you play optimum strategy, and if you go to some of the crappier casinos, they deal single deck out of their hand, makes it MUCH easier to count cards ... but who the fuck wants to sit next to Ethel and Madge the chain smoking grannies? Video poker actually has decent odds, I just find it boring as hell. I'm a fan of Pai Gow Poker ... it's really social, you get to touch the cards (unlike a lot of vegas games), it's close to break even (they charge a 5% commission on winnings like baccarat) .. and you can get drunk as hell as it's a pretty slow game (black jack is NEVER slow). And if you ever ask the dealer "how would the house play the hand" they show you ... so, you really can never screw up. Rule of thumb, the easier the bet, the worse you are for playing it (Roulette for example ... they should at least give you a reach around if you play that game ... easy as hell, but the house has likea 15% advantage on you ... ouch!) gotta go ... my gamblaholics anonymous meeting starts in 10 minutes ... |

play the bigger machines (the dollar or up ones), they pay out more frequently (or so I hear)....actually gambling is pretty much stupid, though I still can't believe a co-worker won 3 fuckin grand off a $1 scratcher.

I wonder how many scratchers your co-worker bought before he finally got a winner.

that's exactly what i meant. thank you for clarifying. learn to count and then play fast loose and easy. if you start to win too much or you think they're getting wise or you feel you've overstayed your welcome in any way, just move on. it takes a little while to build up a serious bank though. be patient. expect delays.

Slot machines are my forte, my luck has kind of translated over to Vegas but not fully. I still rule in the casinos here in Cali, one day I will fully conquer Vegas.

and what the hell is wrong with doubling your money? sounds like a big win to me.... when i go gambling at a casino i bring just as much money as my friends ($50-$100) and i just mill about following them from machine to machine or table to table.... THEN at the end when they are all done they follow me to the roulette table and i flip a quarter w/a red dot on one side and a black dot on the other... place my bets and dont even think about it or second guess it because i look at it like the money i bring to casino's is GONE already... most i'll do is 3x at this method so if i walked in with $50 and win three flips of a quarter (odds are just the same EACH time almost 50-50) i walk with $400!!! either way my friends always trip out on my methods and luck

Speaking as someone from Las Vegas this is true. Always remember the house will get your money, if you play long enough. I worked at the Mandaly Bay and the Monte Carlo, and the worst story I know about was a guy who was up $30,000 and his friends kept telling him to play, and after everything was said and done he lost the 30k plus 2 mil in casion credit. Of course it is hard to feel sorry for him because the guy was loaded.

Sports betting and poker are the best options. Knowledge and skill come into play, somewhat, rather than sheer luck of the draw.
Become familiar with some of the lesser-wagered sports, like Arena Football. Their lines seldom move due to heavy betting. Don't bet basketball, garbage time will destroy the spreads. Bet home underdogs in baseball, unless the team is on a massive losing streak or completely suck ass (Nationals, Royals). Euro soccer is tough, stick with the South American leagues, if you can find a casino willing to take your bet. NHL is hopeless. Only play blackjack if you can count. Play the pass and come lines in craps, as mentioned above. Forget everything else, unless you're feeling lucky
