A new album coming soon, and I see on their myspace they have a live show in Tokyo after some DJ dates in the UK.
One of my favorite acts ever srsly needs to come back to the states soon! I'm gonna be all over whatever hopeful tour happens, but Coachella needs to happen as well. I constantly play these 3 sweet recordings from their 2007 tour alot. Some people here are obsessed with bands like Radiohead and even nerdy about it (in a good way). I'm like that with Basement Jaxx (...and several other non-EDM stuff... Not to discredit me or anything). *random drunken thoughts end* |

I'm fairly confident we're getting Basement Jaxx and Prodigy, paulb. The only other acts I feel this confident about are Massive Attack and Band of Horses. I don't even need to know who the headliners are if those 4 acts are there, it's got Best Coachella Ever potential on that foundation.

Agree 100%! BoH were simply amazing at Red Rocks. I need them at sunset Sunday leading into Beck with strings leading into Bowie. I NEED IT

did you post Youtube vids of Band of Horses from Red Rocks in that fest thread? If so, they were awesome...and their show opening for Beck in Aug, is still one of the best show ive seen this year probably... BEST opening act set, ive ever seen for sure.

Because every band I tell you to get into follows the same process:
1) You "acquire" several of their CDs 2) You tell me you "acquired" them and can't wait to listen to them C) You keep listening to the same CDs you recently "acquired" and let the new band fall by the wayside Band of Horses rules. They're a small step down from MMJ. |

Oh and paulb, I'm very jealous of that show. I hoped against hope it would be BoH and not MGMT opening for our Beck shows the next 2 days, but c'est la vie.
Best opener I saw: LCD Soundsystem --> Arcade Fire (f*** off Salah, AF is amazing, they're another band you'll get someday) |

the crazy thing was, I had no clue what Band of Horses even sounded like... I was almost planning on skipping their set and seeing what was going on downtown... but i figured i spent the money on a concert, might as well see who i paid for.... so im sitting down, they start to play..... a little southern feel to it... but each song just kept getting better and better.... the audience were really into it and loud, which made it even better... they had 3 standing ovations...and ive NEVER seen an opening band get that much love at this venue before... then, just when i thought their set was perfect enough... they drop this one song which absolutely blew my mind, had me closin my eyes and fuckin feelin it...later I find out the song was called, The Funeral. WOW. what a song. I immediatly after their set go to the soundboard guy, and get their setlist, cause I wanted to know what I just saw.... it was too perfect... them on the Outdoor Theater next year will be heaven. I wont miss these guys ever again if they come to town.

That's a great BoH story, paulb, I'm glad you had such a moment with them! His voice is just perfect, they were meant to play at Red Rocks, it seemed. I hadn't seen them prior to that and it was the driving factor in making the trip (plus SSPU, who are equally amazing). I was not disappointed. They've gotta be at Coachella, and I will be front and center. The Funeral was the best song at Red Rocks too (since they didn't play Detlef Schrempf). My buddy posted the vids, I think, btw.
And Basement Jaxx at Coachella is going to be phenomenal, just to get back a little bit to the topic. |

Yeah really who cares? There's only like 3-4 of us up this late/early, we may as well converse.
P.S. Salah, I bought you an adorable Arcade Fire scarf and fanny pack for this weekend. |

please call me Paul, Josh. How did you like Silversun? I saw them in a 300 person club here right before Coachella 07, loved it... then saw them on the mainstage and didnt really like it as much... a guy i know in LA was actually roommates with the keyboardist from the band...

Fanny packs are nothing to joke about, Salah. Keep it together.
![]() Paul, no shit, your friend was roommates with Joe Lester? I idolize that guy, my band finally got a microKORG for me to mess around with in similar fashion. I LOOOOVE Silversun, seen them more than any other band, twice in Cali, twice in Chicago, once at Red Rocks. They've been different every time. At the Wiltern last year, they were MINDBLOWING. They played every song in their catalog, very on point. And they were amazing at Red Rocks too, they kicked up a storm, it was utter chaos. Essentially, they're a perfect blend of two of my favorite bands, Smashing Pumpkins and MBV. In fact, I just voted for that combo of shows for my imaginary concert trip. But I'm a shoegaze addict, what can I say? Very jealous you got to see them in a 300-person venue btw. They did bust out 2 new songs at RR, I've got a good vibe about the upcoming CD. |

awesome, in 2007 lazy eye quickly went to my Top 5 most played songs ever... I love their debut LP... the show i saw, they did the entire Carnavas cd and 3 EP tracks as an encore... it was really great...id def wanna see them again... I love Smashing Pumpkins alot... Mellon Collie was one of the main cds that got me even into music, along with the Blue Album, and Cranberries No Need To Argue... but... I just listened to MBV Loveless, and I could barely depict a song on that whole cd... I gave it a chance, but, i couldnt hear the vocals at all, and I didnt see the appeal in the band... maybe i should try again.
