What bands on the lineup have you already seen?
Which would you recommend? I've seen: Interpol (Not exciting, but very precise. I'd like to hear the new songs) Sonic Youth (Great every time i've seen them.) Busdriver (He can freestyle like nobody's business, and I'll be seein him again on Wednesday) Circa Survive (As far as emo-y groups go, they were good. Better than the norm) Red Hot Chili Peppers (I like their live show. Frusciante's vocals are fun) Arcade Fire (It'll be the best thing you've ever seen) Decemberists (I enjoyed them, they're very precise and whimsical) Kings of Leon (BORING. I'd skip it) The Rapture (Pretty fun, not one of my favorites) LCD Soundsystem (They are fantastic live. A must-see) Blonde Redhead (They outdid Interpol when I saw them.) New Pornographers (They were lackluster when I saw them, but I attribute that partially to a bad soundsystem.) !!! (Fucking grooves) Black Keys (A more workmanlike White Stripes. The live show is cool, and the drummer is awesomely tall) The Nightwatchman (To be honest, don't remember. It was a few years ago, and I recall it being understated, for what that's worth) Air (At sunset, they were perfection) The Roots (They'll jam, with varying results, but it's fun) CSS (Another really fun act, if not anything spectacular)

* Air - Amazing, fantastic, perfect sunset act
* Bjork - She's fucking Bjork. She's a genius goddess from a much cooler dimension. * DJ Shadow - His set when I saw him was more of him playing his greatest hits than anything really interesting DJ wise, but his greatest hits are pretty awesome. * Felix Da Housecat - He rocked a few years ago at Coachella. He sucked a few months ago at Monster Massive. * Infected Mushroom - Very powerful live show, great if you're into psytrance. * Interpol - I only saw part of their set, but it was good. * Jesus and Mary Chain - I saw them 14-15 years ago. I liked their set then, but I don't think I appreciated it as much as I will appreciate it this time. * Placebo - They completely own live. * Red Hot Chili Peppers - Yawwwwwwwwn. * Sonic Youth - Very hit or miss in my experience. * Spank Rock - They rocked when I saw them, but there were only a few people there and only me and my friends had ever heard of them before. No one was really into it. I think a Coachella crowd will be better. * Tiesto - I'm so bored of Tiesto, but occasionally he rocks the house. * Paul Van Dyk - I'm so bored of PVD, and he was always kind of boring to begin with. |

Good thread dude
Interpol--they were great. I liked them a lot better live than on their albums Rufus Wainwright--Good musician. Might put you to sleep at coachella though. I'd probably pass but I am a fan Comedians of Comedy--FUcking great. No one should miss this. David Cross and Sarah Silverman might even show up. THe others in the comedians of comedy are great as well. Red Hot Chili Peppers--Eh. They were alright. Put on a fun show for sure but nothing spectacular. I saw them at Snoop Doggs charity concert at the greek theater. Ice Cube opened, than Wanda Sykes did 5 minutes of stand up, Chili Peppers and then Snoop fucking killed it. Snoop Dogg was fantastic. I'd see him over the Chili Peppers any day. The Decemberists--Would be nice to see as the sun sets. Great live. if you like the music you'll like em live. kings of leon--opening for the strokes. seemed alright to me travis--fucking love travis! guys were great live too. I want to catch them again at coachella. Hear some new shit. Regina Spektor--saw her banging on drums for 3 seconds as I came late to the strokes show. cant tell you much about that. the rapture--love these guys live. the whole place was dancing. Deffinitly checking them out again this year guess thats it. sunday i havent seen any of the bands |

Interpol - opened for the Cure, they were okay, if a little boring...
Arctic Monkeys - not great. only good part was when it started pouring down rain in Belgium during mardy bum. then it got somewhat fun. Sonic Youth - amazing DJ Shadow - amazing Rufus Wainwright - amazing[ly flamboyant] We Are Scientists - I hate the lead singer's voice. Digitalism - opened for Daft Punk in... Dublin? their set was overwhelmed by DP, so I can't really say/remember. Gogol Bordello - saw them in Belgium, fun The Rapture - fun !!! - good Hot Chip - amazingly fun to dance to live. I went to the show thinking they were "eh," but they were amazing. The Cribs - fun Kaiser Chiefs - fun Placebo - surprisingly (to me, at least), they were terrible live. well, not terrible, but I really didn't enjoy it, and it turned me off completely. Brian Molko's voice is 500x whinier and they look like cunts onstage. etc Last edited by cashew; 01-22-2007 at 10:11 PM. |

Interpol (4x) - not mind-blowing but always a solid, tight set. songs don't differ that much from the album versions
Sonic Youth (4x) - freewheeling and fun, best when they don't stick to one record, they've been doing mostly Rather Ripped stuff lately but hopefully by Coachella they'll be ready to experiment again Felix Da Housecat - I don't tend to be a huge Sahara tent dancer, but his stuff got me moving in '03 Gogol Bordello - insane live energy, music started to sound the same after a while RHCP (4x) - if you like them you'll like their live show, personally I wish they'd dig back through the catalog a bit Arcade Fire (3x) - always sound good, looking forward to hearing the new tunes Decemberists - I was impressed with Colin's live vocals The Rapture (3x) - great fun if you like to dance to rock music Air - nice music to stretch out on the lawn to Willie Nelson (2x) - last time I saw him he did a greatest-hits type set, which was fine by me, one of those "if you haven't seen him yet, you probably should" type deals The Roots (2x) - great energy, skilled band, a little too much jamming for my taste last time I asw them !!! - similar dancey vibe as the Rapture Amos Lee - rootsy singer-songwriter stuff, don't remember him being particularly special in any way, Tapes 'n Tapes - off-kilterish indie rock that translated really well to a club setting, I assume it will also go over well in a tent Last edited by MrAmeche; 01-22-2007 at 10:10 PM. |

Bjork- A couple of years ago at Coachella. Not bad not great
Sonic Youth- Great live show. Looking forward to seeing them again Red Hot Chili Peppers- Way back when they were good! Don't care much for anything from them after anymore. Arcade Fire- Awesome mesmerizing show. The Rapture- So much fun to see them. The crowd really gets into it. Rage Against the Machine. Long time ago. Don't really care for them much anymore. Don't even listen to my old Rage Cd. Happy Mondays- The Mondays put on a great live show. I would love to see them and the Rapture play on the same bill in a small venue. |

^ must be the reasons why some acts are in my must-see this year (except for Bjork, TNP ...)
Great question! I've only seen RATM, Arctic Monkeys and Nickel Creek. RATM - fierce set & ferociously awesome performance @ Woodstock '99. I highly recommend them to diehard fans. I'll probably watch them from a distance. AM- I highly recommend that all the AM lovers and haters should see them perform live @ Coachella. They are awesome live! See you at the front row. NC - Oh well, not for Coachella indie rocker fans. Last year's The Second Quartet admirers will likely enjoy NC. I'm more looking forward to Rodrigo y Gabriela's set. I heard from so many people that Interpol is terrible live. Last edited by idrive1life; 01-22-2007 at 10:08 PM. |

Interpol - good set, go if you already like their songs
Arctic Monkeys - same as Interpol. Good execution, not very engaging with the crowd Brazilian Girls - Holy Crap Sabina Sciubba puts on a GREAT show. When I saw them she showed up in an SNM-type full body plastic suit with a blindfold she never removed throughout the show. Sang in 4 languages, good rhythm section, EVERYONE was hopping. Great set. Silversun Pickups - Saw them before I knew their songs and they didn't really impress me too much. Not a very memorable set. Arcade Fire - Best show I've been to in a long time Decemberists - Good show, good with the crowd, good music, plenty of fun Blonde Redhead - Cool interesting music. They opened for Interpol and that set got me to buy one of their albums. Good stuff. New Pornographers - Really solid, though they didn't play with Neko when I saw them. I heard AC Newman's sister fills in for her live and that she doesn't normally tour with the NP's, just records with them. Junior Boys - Low key, fun stuff. People were grooving but nothing major. Relaxed. CSS - Lovefoxx puts on a goood show. She stage dove for a while, talked about Christina Aguilera and booze. Tons of fun. People went nuts for Let's Make Love & Listen to DFA. |

Bjork - Tibetten Freedom Festival & Radio City Music Hall. Amazing!! I will not be missing her voice for the world.
Interpol - Roseland NYC. I'm with Bmack on this one CSS - open for Ladytron. They're a lot of fun. Definately must catch their set. Busdriver - never solo. Saw him as a suprise guest for both Boom Bip (Disney Concert Hall) & Islands (opening for Metric at the Fonda). He tore it up & stole the spotlight at both gigs. Can't wait to see him rock the mic for a whole set. Brazilian Girls - a few years back before anyone really knew who they were. I saw them at Irving Plaza opening for Los Amigos Invisibles. They were stunning. The lead singer, who's name escapes me at the moment, is entrancing. Check them out for sure. Peaches - Wiltern. Awesomeness! Arcade Fire - Coachella & w/ David Byrne at the Hollywood Bowl. WOW! What can I say that hasn't been said already about this band. One of my favorites. Hot Chip - Troubadour. They'll get your booty shakin'. |

I only saw two of them:
Manu Chao on 2005: He came withouth his complete band (the ticket was absolutly cheap, only 5 dollars) but it was a very good show (played something like 2:30 hours, maybe more). Dj Shadow on 2006: I saw it on the Bue Festival (Daft Punk, TV On The Radio, Beastie Boys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Patti Smith, etc). It was a solid performance but nothing more. I could saw the Peppers on 2002, they played on our big stadium and somebody promise me a ticket so i didnt bough one. Finally he couldn't get me one and i missed the show .

One of my favorite things about this year's lineup is that I love is that there's so many I've been waiting to see.
The one's I have seen:

Interpol - 3x - Like others said, very precise and they don't vary much from the album. I personally love seeing them live and will jump at the chance to see them again.
Sonic Youth - 4x - They are pretty lively for some old timers. That said, I will not seek them out. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Saw them on their tour with the Foos back in 2000. Very underwhelmed by them in all honesty. Probably will give them a second chance though on Saturday night seeing how there isn't much going up against it as of right now. Kings of Leon - They opened for U2. Might have been a terrible venue for them, but I thought they were weak. The Rapture - Saw them at Curiosa. They were ok, although I wanted to gouge out my eardrums by the end of the set. The lead singer's voice gets old quickly. Blonde Redhead - Saw them open for Interpol. Musically, I really liked them. The voice was a little much to handle at times. Air - Saw them the performance after Coachella. To this day, still is one of the best concerts I have ever been to. A must see! The Roots - Saw them at my university way back when. Was hammered so I don't remember much. I do recall thinking they weren't bad for a hip hop group. Explosions in the Sky - Incredible! Another one of the best shows I have ever been to. Will not miss them either. I have never seen a group as intense as they are live. Last edited by luckyface; 01-22-2007 at 11:54 PM. |

Bjork (x2) - Excellent!!!
Interpol (x3) - Very good. Jesus and Mary Chain - Saw them about 12 years ago or so, enjoyed very much. Sonic Youth (x2) - very good Rufus Wainwright - saw him open for Tori Amos. Not bad, but like his sister Martha better. Nickel Creek - saw at Austin City Limits last year, one of my favorites! Gillian Welch (x2) - Don't miss her! Her partner, David Rawlings on guitar is amazing! RHCP - once was more than enough for them. Decemberists - a lot of fun live, very energetic. Travis (x2) - excellent both times I saw them! the Rapture - ok, not my cup of tea. LCD Soundsystem - very entertaining. Blonde Redhead - saw them at Coachella 2002, and enjoyed very much. New Pornographers - saw them with Belle and Sebastian. They were ok, not great. Ozomatli Fountains of Wayne - they put on a great live show, well worth checking out. Sparklehorse (x2) - fantastic, my favorite at ACL last September. Rage Against the Machine - saw them open for U2. One of the best live acts I've ever heard. Air - excellent!!! The Roots - opened for Wilco. Didn't care much for. Kaiser Chiefs - ok. Damien Rice - Saw him about a month ago, fantastic show! Jose Gonzalez - saw him at ACL, was kind of bored. |

Brazilian Girls (2x)- Very good live. Highly recommended.
Felix Da Housecat (3x)- Sometimes he's on and locked, other times...not so much. Busdriver (1x)- 6 years ago, I think. Can't remember details. Tiesto (1x)- Nocturnal Wonderland 2002. Sun was rising behind him at 5am. He was laying down some serious tunes. Now, not so much. I'll pass. Best dj in the world? Erol Alkan would tear this guy a new one. MSTRKRFT (2x)- First time last summer very good, last time a couple of months ago the set was very repetitive and a bit monotonous. Not much texture in that set. They should still be great in the tent. Highly recommended. Justice (3x)- Highly recommended. Xavier absolutely kills it. Not really looking forward to listening to "We are your friends" for the 300th time, but the rest of their set should be amazing. Highly, highly recommended. Dj Heather (2x)- Funky house. Good dj. A good way to stretch the muscles in the early part of the day. Paul Van Dyk (1x)- Can't remember his set. Saw him about 4 or 5 years ago. The Roots (2x)- They truly are "The legendary Roots crew". Soulwax (1x)- Next to Daft last year, my second favorite live show of 06. Highly, highly recommended. Spank Rock (1x)- Opened for MIA in LA in 05. Didn't really know them then, but they've since become a pretty big deal. Looking forward to seeing them perform Lindsay Lohan. Ratatat (1x)- Saw them open for Ladytron and the Faint. I was too drunk to remember any of their set. Love their music though. CSS (1x)- Catch them. !!! (1x)- Really enjoyed their set. As if I need to recommend it to anyone. arctic monkeys - i don't know why other people didn't enjoy the arctic monkeys but when i saw them they were amazing. i'm probably a bit biased though because they're one of my top 5 favorite bands. it was cool because they got us into their show the next day in a different city.
we are scientists - 3 or 4 times i've seen them and every time it's been so awesome. chris and keith are hilarious on stage. interpol - sorta saw them except not really. they're my favorite band since the "sort of saw them" incident and i really cannot wait to see them. |

Interpol (x1): it was after their first album. ok, not great.
Sonic Youth (x5): Always fantastic live. And one of my all time favorite bands. PS...if you saw them at Arthurfest, ignore it. the sound people were idiots that night. Peeping Tom (x1): Not my favorite Patton project, but a fun live show. The Arcade Fire (x2): Many of us still drool over their 2005 appearance. I hope them being on the main stage doesn't subtract too much from the excitement. Blonde Redhead (x1): Great! I love them, cant wait! The New Pornographers (x1): I saw them without Neko Case, which was disappointing, but they still sounded good. I just hope Neko plays with them at Coachella. The Black Keys (x1): Really great blues rock. Sound really good live too! !!! (x2): Very energetic live show. I'm not too thrilled with their new material though. I'll see them if nobody else good is playing at the time. Air (x1): Great band, even better live! Loved seeing them in 2004. |

interpol - great when they opened for the cure. other 5 times boring.
sonic youth - absolutely amazing brazilian girls - chick has serious case of stage fright. face/eyes always covered peaches - dryhumping people in crowd opening for nin nickel creek - around christmas time they did and encore of christmas carols at their show. gogol bordello - should have left after their set and skipped cake. no one can top gogol live. noisettes - they opened for bloc party. i watched maybe 5 minutes of their set and dont even remember that. the arcade fire - great the decemberists - much better with petra hayden in the band. oh well the rapture - new album is over produced. i bet new tunes are much better live. we'll see blonde redhead - opening for interpol. very very loud !!! - dance party mike relm - never seen anyone do video scratching before. i'd love to know how he does it. the roots - dave chappelle came out on stage during their set and did an awesome stage dive. kaiser chiefs - dont remember. too drunk placebo - played before she wants revenge and blew them away rodrigo y gabriela - ive never seen anyone shred like that on an acoustic guitar, amazing! css - saw them with ladytron. lots of fun. the coup - backing band is great. amazing drummer. |

Arcade Fire (4x) - easily the best live act on tour right now...AMAZING
Blonde Redhead - they sound wonderful, Kazu is the best person ever The Decemberists - even more charming live, and sound great too. Too bad Petra Hayden isn't around anymore... Interpol - not at all dynamic on-stage, but it's good music that sounds great and I can't wait to hear the new material !!! - caught the second half of their set, not really my thing but pretty cool Of Montreal - assuming KROQ was correct and they are just missing from the poster for whatever reason; caught the end of their set at Detour and they sounded like good times |

The arthurfest Sonic Youth set sounded alright to me. I was on the fence getting feed from the amps, so i guess the mixing didn't give me problems

RATM (once) - It was on the "Evil Empire" Tour, they played "Darkness" and "The Ghost of Tom Joad" still one of the best shows ive ever seen. Zack hardly spoke which i hear is kind of rare but appreciated.
RHCP (3X) - Twice they were pretty terrible and once they were alright...ill be skipping them. Interpol - Saw them at the Greek and loved the lighting and all that..sounds almost exactly like the album which is good and bad The Roots (twice) - One of the coolest live bands around. i cant wait to see them again. The medley is just plain sick...if youve seen them you know what im talking about. The Arcade Fire- At Coachella 05...probably the best set i saw that year. Tons of crazy energy cant wait to hear the new stuff. The Decemberists(twice)- Both times ive seen them its been in a small venue and theyve been great...itll be interesting to see how it plays to a much large crowd Peeping Tom(twice) - its fun, Mike Patton doing poppy type songs...kinda wish its was Tomahawk but oh well. And i saw them at the OC fair with Gnarls Barkley...so that was kinda wierd. !!! - at Coachella 04, it was fun for while but it was early and hot and my fascination waned Ozomatli - Ive seen them a ton of times, they seen to randomly play in OC a lot...they are a really fun band hopefully theyll be outdoors
