2009 Coachella Dates Confirmed
COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL 2009 SET FOR APRIL 17, 18 AND 19;
STAGECOACH: CALIFORNIA'S COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL TO TAKE PLACE THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND, SATURDAY, APRIL 25 AND SUNDAY, APRIL 26
Goldenvoice has confirmed the dates for this year's COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL--Friday, April 17, Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19--to be followed a weekend later by STAGECOACH: California’s Country Music Festival, set for Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26. The two critically acclaimed events will again take place at the breathtakingly beautiful Empire Polo Field in Indio, CA, the same grounds where the COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL debuted in 1999.
Additional details about both the STAGECOACH and COACHELLA line-ups and ticket sales will be available in the coming months.

Join the Dirty Hands Caravan
JOIN "THE DIRTY HANDS CARAVAN"
A MOVEMENT DESIGNED TO
"INSPIRE INDIVIDUALS TO TAKE INDIVIDUAL ACTION"
The morning after the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, CA, a string of bio-diesel buses transporting up to 300 people will caravan 1800 miles in an effort designed to engage a new generation of activists. The Dirty Hands Caravan is the coming together of individuals who will be encouraged to get involved by building houses for the homeless, protesting the War in Iraq while supporting the needs of veterans and their families, caring for the sick or needy, cleaning up parks or neighborhoods across America, taking part in clean water initiatives for foreign lands or engaging in whatever way they feel compelled to help others. The caravan, which is the brainchild of Sean Penn, will make stops in numerous cities until it arrives at its final destination, New Orleans, where the spirit of Coachella will join the close of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. On Sunday, May 4th, members of The Dirty Hands Caravan will descend on New Orleans to help better the Big Easy through their good works.
Participants in the caravan will have their food, water, transportation and campground accommodations paid for in exchange for their service. As the bio-diesel buses make their way across U.S. cities, members of the caravan will be offered opportunities to volunteer on behalf of established local organizations. However, members of the caravan are free to choose whatever cause or do whatever good they feel inspired to do, whether it is officially organized or not. The goal of The Dirty Hands Caravan is to get people engaged and active in their world. Good works will be done, but the caravan's overall mission is to “encourage individuals to take individual actions.” To offer inspiration, the caravan will stop at campgrounds where individuals will have the chance to hear from musicians, activists, artists, filmmakers and guest speakers who will offer ideas on how to stand up for what you believe in and then effectively implement those ideas.
Those individuals seeking to join The Dirty Hands Caravan will need to fill out an application in advance. To request an application go to our temporary website http://thedirtyhandscaravan.ifanz.net. The official website www.thedirtyhandscaravan.com is coming soon. The buses will depart the Coachella Festival parking lot at Noon on Monday, April 28th. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and should plan on being away from their homes and families for at least ten days. Buses will depart New Orleans for the Coachella grounds at Midnight, May 5th and will return to Los Angeles by May 7th. Up to 300 people may be traveling on The Dirty Hands Caravan bio-diesel buses, but organizers hope many more will follow by any means they can, and encourage their friends and family to join them in New Orleans.

"COACHELLA EXPRESS" TRAIN

This year's COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL will feature a new and improved way for festival-goers to reach their destination.
Goldenvoice can now confirm details of the new venture with festival sponsor AMTRAK to create the "Coachella Express." This one-of-a kind train will transport campers from Los Angeles to the Empire Polo Field and back for this year's COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL set for Friday, April 25, Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27. COACHELLA, Amtrak and the city of Indio are working together to create a temporary train platform in Indio; from there concert-goers will be transported via shuttle buses to and from the camping check-in area at the polo field and the temporary station.
"Coachella Express" is FREE of charge and is open to anyone with a camping & festival ticket. Reservations can ONLY be made at www.coachella.com and will be on a first-come, first-served basis effective immediately.
The train will depart Los Angeles' historic Union Station Thursday, April 24 at 1:30 PM and will return to Los Angeles, leaving Indio Monday, April 28 at 10:30 AM.
"We're always looking for ways to improve the Coachella weekend," says Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice. "And this collaboration with Amtrak and the city of Indio is one in an ongoing plan to make a fan's trip easier. This is a priority for us not only for Coachella but all our festivals."
The Amtrak collaboration will be one of many special promotions, events, partnerships that the company will implement in the six weeks leading up to Amtrak's recently announced first annual National Train Day (May 10, 2008). More than just a convenient way to travel, Amtrak is also energy efficient. Traveling by rail contributes less per passenger mile to greenhouse gas emissions than either cars or airplanes. According to U.S. Department of Energy data, Amtrak is 17 percent more efficient than domestic airline travel and 21 percent more efficient than auto travel on a per-passenger-mile basis. When combined with all modes of transportation, passenger railroads emit only 0.2 percent of the travel industry's total greenhouse gases.

At the same time, promoters can now confirm preliminary details for the ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL. The three-day event is set for August 8, 9 and 10, 2008 at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. The first annual ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL is set for August 8, 9 and 10, 2008. The three-day, multi-stage music and arts festival will take place at Liberty State Park in New Jersey--a historic location offering panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Manhattan skyline. The festival’s name is inspired by the area’s rich history, particularly Ellis Island and the NJ Central Railroad terminal located on the festival site, where many arriving immigrants boarded trains for ALL POINTS WEST.
